The Ask: I have had the continuous responsibility of overseeing the design of the main core pitch and correlating sales materials for the Grammys Awards. The media landscape has seen unprecedented shift, evolution and challenge during this time, and the success of selling creative advertising partnerships for this legendary show has been of the highest priority for Paramount.

The Process: In conceptualizing design for this iconic awards show it was imperative that we convey immediate visceral excitement, and leverage the luxury and prestige of the event to establish a premium value. Design-wise, I utilized gold gradients, bokeh motion graphics and animated transitions to emphasize and house the sheer star-power of the IP. Also, when designing for initiatives that surround something that is active and joyous, such as music, sports, movies etc, there are usually rich opportunities to use visual metaphors that connect people to their human experience of the concept. This was certainly true in this case, as I leveraged a piano as a bar graph, a music signature as a press quote slide, a equalizer bar graph, and so on.

Results: The Grammys has had incredible success with advertising partnerships, even selling out all advertising opportunities available in 2023 ( Unprecedented ). It remains to be a culturally defining moment, and we continue to deliver the design that our sales people use to establish it’s value. They are excited and confident going into meetings, knowing they have some visual firepower to support them.
