EVENTS / EXPERIENTIAL
CES
From 2010-to 2019 CNET, as the leading tech review site of the times, was central to the footprint and culture of CES, the largest, most influential tech conference in the nation’ that takes place in Las Vegas every January. During that time myself and my team were responsible for…anything that would live on a screen. We produced hours of vertical-specific sizzle reels and motion graphic content to run numerous custom screens throughout the physical footprint. We also created the immersive motion design and animation for the A-List performances (Snoop Dogg, Run-DMC, Beck, Janelle Monae, Macklemore, Blink 182, Jane’s Addiction ) at the annual CNET Party at Drais, with their cascading numerous ceiling screens.
VIdcon
My larger team and I executed an immersive activation at Vidcon 2024 with the FDA and Influencer Symonne Harrision . My contribution was that I projection mapped smoke and light onto carious extruded / cut typographic executions and mapped and lung lake through a mirror onto the chest of people walking through, as well created the motion graphics for every surface of the experience. If you ever get a chance to work with experts in building realistic nature for film sets and live experiences, jump at it – Seeing them work with nature as a canvas was mind blowing.
VMAs
This year at the VMAs, in addition to overseeing the graphics treatments for the In-Show TV Ads that my team worked on, I got an extra assignment that I threw myself into whole heartedly. I got to do all the motion design and projection mapping for the Bacardi VMAs Push Artist Pre-Party. Motion design has always been a place where I can offer help and be a. resource for creative teams., especially in experiential design.
More Projection Mapping
In my village of Yellow Springs, I try to map as many murals as I can. I have less fun with buildings themselves, but it does still definitely add value and surprise.
With 6 mapping devices, I am capable of block-long projection, but honestly 90% of the times I deploy it, one good one is enough. It takes design and animation back into the physical world in a far more tangible way than AR or and second screen application. I always look where the love ISN’T and put it THERE.
